Government CIO bids farewell to friends and colleagues
It would be a pity if John Suffolk weren't replaced
Published 12:36, 10 December 10
It’s unclear yet what Suffolk will do, or whether he’ll be replaced. The Cabinet Office could subsume his role into that of Ian Watmore who was head of e-government and is now the Chief Operating Officer of the Cabinet Office’s Efficiency and Reform Group. Or another Government CIO could be given Suffolk’s job.
It would be a pity if the Cabinet Office did not seek to replace Suffolk - he has been an outspoken advocate of reform of the processes of government.
It’s a little odd that Suffolk’s farewell event last night came more than 11 weeks before he actually departs the Cabinet Office. He hasn't been asked to do any official duties in the new year.
