Open Source Shopping Baskets

In one of my wanderings around the Internet (don't ask), I came across this interesting discussion about e-commerce shopping baskets, and the difficulty of finding a good open source one. That's quite a serious problem, given the centrality of shopping baskets to online sales.

According to this piece, the contenders seem to be osCommerce, Zen Cart, and the new Magento. I have no knowledge of any of these: does anyone have any experience of working with them, or alternative solutions?
