LEGO Printer says Hello World
Published 16:06, 04 June 10
A member of the B3ta forums, who goes by the name of Squirrelfantasy, has built a working printer out of LEGO parts, which uses felt tips pens instead of ink cartridges. From his description on YouTube:
"The 'Lego felt tip 110' printer connected to an Apple Mac. This is not a kit you can buy and does not use mindstorms. I designed/built/coded it all from scratch including analogue motor electronics, sensors and printer driver, the USB interface uses a 'wiring' board."
The printer is adorned with LEGO men and even a LEGO horsey.
Let's face it, it must be a lot cheaper to run than regular printers using ink cartridges.
LEGO is very cool at the moment. You can withdraw money from a fully functioning LEGO ATM, put it into your LEGO wallet and take a photo with your LEGO camera, chair a meeting at your LEGO board room table, go home to prepare a meal in your LEGO kitchen, and perhaps even curl up on your LEGO couch to watch a LEGO Star Wars movie. Hmm, I can't imagine that couch would be too comfortable.
